A couple of weeks ago I purchased some digital stamps from Faery Ink with the hopes that I would be able to work on creating something to put out as decoration for Halloween. Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but I was finally able to get make time to play with them today. For my first attempt I scaled down the size of the stamp and printed it out on white cardstock and then colored it in with pencils. It has been a long time since I’ve done anything with a “doll” so I was rusty when it came time to do the shading on the image, but I think for the most part it turned out OK. Of course it helps that the image is adorable to begin with!
When I finished the first one I thought it would be fun to try another. This time I wanted to use my Chameleon markers so I printed it out on watercolor paper. I thought it might be too difficult to color the smaller scale so I used the original size. I started with the black part of her skirt and realized that I just didn’t have enough experience with the markers to make it look the way I wanted. I ended up not using the blender on the marker and just colored it in and then went back to add the folds of the skirt. After coloring it in with the markers I decided to use my pencils again to give some areas more texture and I finished it all off with some distress ink and water to paint the background.
I’m very happy with the way they turned out. Sure I could have created more of a background on the larger one, but it was more about the coloring than it was about being perfect. It was definitely a great way to relax. Have a great night!
